Self-Catering Accommodation on Our Family Farm
The detached bungalow is set in the garden of Lower Farm, a 17th century timber framed farmhouse.
The bungalow consists of a sitting room with a colour television, a twin bedded room with ample cupboard space, a bathroom with a shower, a well equipped kitchen with fridge, microwave and washing machine. The sitting room overlooks the garden that visitors are welcome to use, and a meadow which at times is stocked with sheep from the farm.
The bungalow has a night storage heaters and a wood-burning stove when needed. Pillows and blankets are provided, but you are requested to bring your own sheets, pillow cases and towels. £1 coins are required for the electric meter.
The farm consists of nearly 1000 acres of arable land, a flock of sheep and a few cattle. It is farmed traditionally with conservation in mind and has a diverse bird population.
Balsham has about 1800 inhabitants. In the village there is a butcher, dairy and general store with a post office as well as two public houses. Milk, bread and daily news papers can be ordered in advance if required. Cambridge, Newmarket, Saffron Walden and Haverhill are all within 10 miles of the village.
